Thai days: The Bloodless Coup

Hugh Paxton’s Blog reports that despite the coup all is quiet on the eastern front. The airport is unusually empty. Foreign visitors seem reluctant to come and that’s a shame. Everything’s fine here. Instead of street protests, snipers, bombs, we’ve got a few soldiers here and there and lots of girls posing with them for photos. I haven’t witnessed a single act of violence since the army took over and arrested most of the politicians. As military coups go I’d rate this one as bloodless. If it hadn’t happened there would still be ongoing bloodshed.

Cheers from Bangkok!

PS: Blimey it’s hot, humid, and seems to be consistently the hottest city in SE Asia! But if I didn’t want to be here I wouldn’t be here. I love Bangkok. Don’t let a coup scare you away.
