Andre’s View: Supermarket experience

Hugh Paxton’s Blog has this in from Andre.

I’m in Cumbria at the moment and it’s raining. I find this utterly infuriating! It’s Cumbrian rain!

A bit.

A bit more.

Lots for not a long time. Nothing. Brief burst of sunshine!

Rain resumes. But just a bit. Then a bit less. Then some more but not very much. Then more. And more. And then a sustained four hours of drizzle. Wild winds. Mist incoming. Mist outgoing. Clouds looming. More rain!

It’s all out there! Fells, waterfalls, wonderful walks, reedbeds and Neolithic standing stones on lonely moors over flown by plaintiff lapwings. All I need is a brief bit of sun, half an hour, half an hour would be fine! But it really is not going to happen. Today I have no sun.

What I do have is this! From Andre!

And I’m sharing it with you.

A while ago a new supermarket opened in Parrsboro, Nova Scotia. It has an automatic water-demister to keep the produce fresh.(just like Waitrose)

Just before it goes on, you hear the sound of distant thunder and the smell of fresh rain.

When you pass the milk cases, you hear cows mooing and there is the scent of freshly mowed hay.

In the meat department there is the aroma of charcoal grilled steaks with onions..

When you approach the egg case, you hear hens clucking and cackling, and the air is filled with the pleasing aroma of bacon and eggs frying.

The bread department features the tantalizing smell of fresh baked bread and cookies.

I don’t buy toilet paper there anymore.
