Bats and Ebola

by

Hugh Paxton’s Blog would like to thank everybody for their concern. Don’t worry! Our bat is not carrying Ebola. It is a baby fruit bat that eats fruit and fell out of a tree in front of my house. It’s a small black mouse with rather stylish wings. It hasn’t visited the Congo. Doesn’t have a passport. It’s first flight was headfirst from its roost. Not a great success. Stuka dive without the siren and the brakes.

I’m surprised that so many people are suspicious even frightened of bats! Come on chaps!

Bats are lovely! And Ebola is a bodily fluid thing. Human/primate/etc. Fruit bats are nothing to worry about!

Cheers!

Hugh

Ok…but those things do carry diseases, including the viral hemorrhagic variety. I don’t know if I’d have the heart to take one in and nurse it to health.
