Bye, bye, bananas – The Washington Post

Yes, as we speak I am here on the Pacific coast of Guatemala, in the middle of banana country (and palm oil, and sugar cane, and…) and everybody’s talking about Panama. I friend of ours, who is helping with our yellow-naped parrot project, is switching over to the baby bananas, but is not sure if they are resistant to the new Panama strain. Most smart growers here in Guatemala have diversified years ago.
