Hugh Paxton’s Blog needs help!
I’m not sure what this is. Sarah can you forward to Nik? He knows everything so should clear up the mystery swiftly but he’s busy! My first guess was a giant flying squirrel. But it doesn’t look quite right for that. I’m not suggesting a new species has turned up looking floppy and dehydrated in a remote Myanmar toilet…it probably is a giant flying squirrel But I’m intrigued. Andy, any of your wildlife boffins (or you!) have ideas? It looks rather like a flying possum. The photography is unclear. I thought flying possum. But they are Australasian. A bit of a puzzle for me. Chang says they glide and have wings. Everybody here and there knows what a fruit bat looks like. So it isn’t a fruit bat!
I’d appreciate your thoughts!
PS Nobody ate it! They’ll be caring for it. But wondering what it eats. Whatever it used to eat it will be eating what the villagers are eating now. But if it likes it, it will have as much as it wants.
