Thai Days: “It’s mammoth.” Yeah,right!

March 31, 2011

Police arrested a man in posession of 3 kg of ivory in Nakhon Sawan. His claims that some of the ten pieces of tusk were mammoth were unconvincing. Mammoths don’t live in thailand. And never have.

This twerp’s arrest is part of a new police crackdown on ivory smuggling and elephant poaching. Hugh Paxton’s blog urges anybody encountering ivory salesmen or carvers contact the police. After they’ve been busted they’ll have to think of a better excuse. The mammoth ploy is a bust. InĀ all senses of the word.
